No networks were disrupted between April and May this year, according to the report on Scotland Yard's Counter-Terrorism Command.

It says serious terrorist attacks may have been foiled as a result of some of the successes.

During the last financial year police responded to 181 calls to the scene of suspected terrorist incidents - one every other day - and have already responded to 29 in April and May this year. read more

Dozens of people have been injured as a powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.8 hit Japan's northern island of Honshu.

The quake's epicentre was very deep, but it still caused damage to buildings and left thousands without power.

A number of cars were buried in a landslide, local television said, and the earthquake triggered fires and shattered windows.

The tremor also caused traffic disruption, with motorways closed and train services cancelled. read more

Washington (ChattahBox) - Microsoft has announced on Tuesday that this fall, user-created games will be able to be sold over Xbox Live on the Xbox 360 console.

Microsoft will be building on the XNA initiative, by allowing gamers to create games for the Xbox 360 with a $99 a year subscription to the XNA Creators Club. read more

The Windows Live Messenger IM Control is one of those very small projects from Microsoft that I truly like, because it can make such a difference in helping people communicate. The IM Control allows you to embed a Windows Live Messenger window on your website so your readers can communicate with you instantly (assuming you're online and at the computer). I've used it once or twice to communicate with developers of various Microsoft technologies when pursuing One Microsoft Way stories. read more

ORLANDO, Fla. — An Orlando man has traded the naming rights to his unborn son for a $100 gas card.

David Partin recently heard that a local radio station was giving $100 worth of free gas to the listener who called in with the most interesting item to trade. Central Florida radio hosts Richard Dixon and J. Willoughby were quick to take Partin up on his offer.

When the baby is born this winter, he will be named Dixon and Willoughby Partin — with the "and" included. read more

An Arab from East Jerusalem has gone on the rampage at the wheel of a construction digger, injuring 16 people as he smashed into cars in a busy city centre street before being shot dead.

The attack appeared to be a deliberate repeat of an incident on July 2 when another East Jerusalem Arab used a bulldozer to crush three Israelis to death on a nearby street. read more
